Such a Hyggee weekend, Copenhagen, Denmark and Lund, Sweden So this past weekend, after only two days in Florence after my trip to Madrid, I met miss Allie Cremo, Elise Delagnes, and Elise’s friend from Oxford Liza in good ol’ Copenhagen, Denmark!! Allie and I had planned this trip as a kind of birthday celebration for our 21sts J our crew was perfect! Elise met Liza ecause she goes to Oxford with her, and its funny that Elise and Allie are such great friends now because of me! But listen to how small of a world it truly is…. Allie and Liza apparently go way back! First off, they both did this internship program in London during highschool, and both of Allie’s grandparents apparently each dated Liza’s! so crazy!! AND, one of Liza’s best best camp friends (she had like a group of four girls), is one of my friends from Florence! Rachel! And apparently Rachel did the London program too…. This world truly is sooo small! Anyways, back to the trip:
Kopenhavn, Day 1:
So traveling up to Copenhagen was quite a struggle, not gonna lie haha, My flight was at 10:15am out of Bologna, so I had to catch a 7am train. Yes, early. So I left my apartment around 6:30 :/ , picked up a fresh Italian croissant at the only open bakery and my journey began. All was smooth until my first flight was delayed!! We sat in the plane for an hour, and I had a connection in Paris! There was no way. Soooo, I pretty much watched the time fly by and of course missed my flight, hate you air france! But, luckily, the next flight was just 2hours later, and I got a voucher for a free sandwich and drink, one good thing J.
I knew where my hostel was, and that a bus went to the city center, but when I arrived, I was pretty nervous because Allie and Elise both hadn’t responded to any of my text messages and I wasn’t sure if they would be at the hostel still, so I was praying that they would be there!
Independent me, I just hopped on thebus (it was around 6pm by then) and asked a nice old Danish man to make sure I was going in the right direction, and I figured ou my stop. We were staying at Dan Hostel, on H.C. Anderson’s Boulevard, near the city center. Sooo, I finally arrived, paid for my share of the room and opened the door of our room to find all the girls sleeping!! Haha but after waking them up, it was such a nice reunion J
After resting up for a bit, we got ready to go out, pickeup amazing falafel pita wraps and went to pre-game at guess who’s Ricky Townsend’s apartment! (he is studying abroad here haha)
Kulobar: oh what a night haha
First night out, we went with Ricky to a fun club called kulobar where it is free beer for 2 hours! Haha we saw a bunch of people I knew here too, and of course interacted with some Danes. First of all, Danes have no recognition of body space, I felt invisible! Haha so pushy on the dance floor! And get this, one guy was being a little too aggressive with Elise (and she has her bf Dan), so Ricky told him to stop and he like pushed him and Allie got into it and Allie ends up getting hit TWICE and then pinned to the ground by this guy!!!! This was around 3 or so, and then Allie and Rickey get dragged out of the club by the security guard! Allie asks to speak to the manager because she just got like mauled practically, but they were so rude and said the manager was “busy”…so…that was the end of Kulobar hahah, but I wish I saw the fith (I was in the bathroom), but I feel like I totes would have gotten hit to haha
After of course we needed food, so we walked to 7-11 (yes they have like a million there!) and I bought these amazing bin-candy nuts and we were all “testing” them haha and Elise gets caught and the guy was like “pay for those or I call the police!” so she had to pay for literally 2 peanuts… first we get kicked out of kulobar, then this!? oh what a first night hahaha
Kopenhavn Day 2, exploring the beautiful city:
For breakfast we alked to the main street, the Stroget, it’s the main city center, and went to this delicious bakery!!! We ended up going here way too often hahah. I got a pastry with cinnamon and raisins and a rhubarb muffin, SO YUM! After that we explored all the city, Copenhagen is SUCH a beautiful city! And such a fun town (we all loved it!) but its FREEZING!! There was ice even where the water was frozen!
After breakfast we were walking by a phone store that was having some promotion and we got all this free popcorn and cappuccinos! Gotta love free food hahah
So many sites, then the longest trek to see the Little Mermaid statue, then we sat at Café G and got hot elderflower J!! (Elderflower stuff is huge here) We had elderflower and blueberry cider even! And strawberry and lime cider too, sooo yummy J
After, I got my first street hot dog/sausage, and FELL IN LOVE! Bahahah we had wayyy to many of these…. They had the BEST ketchup and mustard and I usually hate ketchup…weird hahah
Happy Pig, Night #2
Tonight it was just us four, and we had a fun pre-game in our room and then bundled up for the Happy Pig, a cool Hyggee (this word means like “relaxed” and is pronounced Hoogley haha) bar with a live band. I got a cranberry cider and it was all fun until this biotch who looked (and acted) like Selma Blair’s character from Legally Blonde haha yells at us for “taking” her seats when they were really ours! Ughh so annoying haha her friend goes “this is Denmark” pshhh haha Normally everyone has been sooo nice here! And they all speak such good English, But that didn’t stop us from still having fun J we stayed for awhile then went home!
Kopenhavn Day 3, Sunny Day!
Started off our day with the yummy bakery again, of course, but I was very disappointed after thinking I ordered a banan muffin, when I got it and it was a chocolate chip banana muffin! Grrr, but whatevs, it was still tasty!
Then we took advantage of the sun and climbed the “round tower” such a pretty view! We saw an exhibition that compared how much money families around the world spend a week on food… pretty interesting…After we went to Copenhagen’s famous tea shop called Perch Tea (it reminded me of Marriage Freres or however you spell it, in Paris) We all got yummy “white symphony” tea with elderflower! Then we walked to Rosenbory slot and the palace, then to Christiana, an enclosed area where pot is legal (don’t worry, none of us had any!) but what a site it was hahah…a little sketchy not gonna lie, but I bought my “Copenhagen” bracelet (I get one from every city I visit J ) and we got some good falafel too!
Afterwards we got some hyggee tea at a cute café and of course hot dogs again! haha then I got a yummy roll/pastry from the bakery again
Hacienda, night number 3!
Tonight we went to a club called Hacienda where it has free champagne and beer all night! A fun night of dancing and a stop for kebabs (schwarma) on the way home!
Day 4, Lund, Sweden!!
So today, we decided to take a day-trip to a small college town in Sweden! Wooo! Haha We got breakfast in the morning, well I had a pesto cheese foccacia haha, and then hopped on a train! We walked around the cute city, saw the famous church with an astronomical clock that we watche go off, and we met these girls who directed us to the BEST lunch place ever!! I got a huge salad (finally a salad! Hahah) with pesto, sundried tomatoes, eggplant, pepper, and brie, plus hot bread, SO YUM! After we devoured those, I spent half my money on bin candy, of course J Then it was home time, but Elise and Liza had their lfight that night, so allie and I went back to good old Copenhagen. We were planning to stay with Rickey that night, but his flight from Amsterdam didn’t get back until supper late, so basically we were stranded for a few hours! Hahah After dinner, I hate all my candy as Allie tried to finish a paper she had due the next day.. then the only place open was mcdonalds, so we got mcflurries hahah sugar overload for me L but finally rickey called and then it was bed time for me, and all-night for allie and her paper, eww!
Then we got our yummy pastires (I got 3 this time haha) and it was off to the airport!
Bye bye denmark!
