Cafe Pitti and Superbowl at the Red Garter

Cafe Pitti is this adorable gem that takes our vouchers by Piazza pitti (of course haha), where i had one of the most amazing lunches. I started with a yummy caprese and then got gnocchi with tomato sauce, and ate it alll, yes for lunch! hahah, that is the italian style for you :)... but back to the ambiance of this place which was the best part... it had adorable flowered walls and different upstairs rooms and chandeliers... i went with Hayley and Sarah and we ended up sitting for like 2 hours, writing in our journals and just taking in the day :)

superbowl sunday at the red garter:
So a total american night for you hahah we bought tickets to watch the superbowl at the red garter, and it was viewing at like 12:30pm, so it was definitely a late night haha but they had great fries, chicken wings, and nachos, what a night!

Salamanca

such a good spanish restaurant! they take our vouchers, and have the most amaaazing sangria :)... i also got tapas there! i got berenjenas (they are eggplant with honey and cheese) and chicken croquettes... so yum!

Cooking Class!

Today my going out for the past three nights until like 5am finally caught up to me because I unfortunately felt so sick! Boo L I felt so stuffed up! But I still woke up early and had some breakfast. Then I went to school to get some internet for awhile. Then I picked up a wonderful foccacia Panini with spinach and mozzarella (eating up and very oily J ) then I met up with Hayley and Sarah and we just walked around a bit, popping into shops here and there… I then went to get lunch with them at Golden View and we got to sit right next to the window overlooking the point vecchio, so amazing!

Then I went to a cooking class for dinner! It was only 12 of us and we were hard at work the entire time! our teacher was hilarious too haha. We made homemade ricotta and spinach ravioli! It was such a process, but really so easy. Then we made eggplant caprese and heated it yum! And for dessert, panna cotta with chocolate sauce…. We all devoured it! hahah

primo fine settimana a Firenze!

So my weekends are actually not really weekends, seeing as I have no class monday or friday hahaha, but my first weekend in florence was nothing but amazing :) It is crazy how much more crowded it is on the weekends, compared to the weekdays.... i can't imagine how it will be in the springtime!

My weekend started off on Friday with a trip to Fiesole, which is an old Etruscan village. We toured an old theatre that i think was built like thousands of years before chirst. aka realllyyy old hahah... and we saw the ruins of an old temple and bath house. Then we walked to an old church, and saw the most AMAZING views of Florence and its surrounds. It really puts it into perspective when you see it so high up. It was so sunny and warm up there too, i was sweating haha.

(pictures on other post)

Afterwards we had the most feastful lunch ever. Like seriously they kept bringing plates and plates of bruschetta, eggs, meats, cheeses, quiches, breads. you name it! and then of course some type of cheesecake for dessert, i was stuffed! that morning i had the best orange juice too... i was freshly squeezed right in front of me, from blood oranges too!

We took the bus ride back around 3pm and then stacie and i walked around the city center and then went back to her place to book Barcelona tickets!!

We also walked through a Chocolate Festival (aka HEAVEN) which is going on for two weeks in the Santa Croce... i bought 4 jams from this guy (after trying like 10 haha)... they are all sugar free jams and just like pure fruit, and there is every fruit possible.... i got a mixed berries, a lamponi (i think thats cherry?), some other fruit i dont know haha and the guys favorite, which was apple and lemon . Stacie and i tried to limit our chocolate intake at the festival (we tried some coconut truffles that were delicious) because we were soo full from lunch... but its going on for two weeks, so i will FOR sure be back ahah....

I went home to take a nap (so unlike me i know hahah but i went to bed at 4 the night before, so i think it was much needed)... and then afterwards i ate real quick, got ready and heading to pregame at hayleys for another night out! hahah wooo!

We started our night at slowly.... this super posh bar with a dj and dance floor (luckily no americans there!)... i had a kir royale and a yummy apple concoction! It was me, jordan, mimi, sarah, amy, rachel, jenna, and hayley...

Afterwards, we headed over to club 21 around 1:30pm and danced danced danced!!! so many italian boys were there that night haha so it was pretty interesting... then we wanted to go somewhere else, so we wandered the streets of florence, and then most of the girls went home except for amy, sarah, rachel, and I.

We headed to another club called Twice, where sarah, and amy, and i danced danced danced some more hahah... i practiced my italian perfectly, and even met some spanish boys haha.... then we got kebabs (of course) and got home at 5! geese florence life is tiring :)

Saturday i slept in a little (ew haha)... and then went to the esalunga (the huge supermaket which takes our vouchers) and it was such a treck! and soooo stressful hahaha.... so afterthat we were a little wiped out haha, but then mimi and i met up with rachel and hayley and then stacie and joanna joined us as we just walked all around the city... i stumbled upon another market in the piazza de republica where i sampled some tasty olive oils and spreads and wine...

Dinner tonight with like 10 of us at a spanish tapas place! yay!

At Salmanelca we split pitchers of sangria (so yum!) and then i got croquettas (chicken and cheese ones) and then this amazing eggplant dish... benjanas or something like that... it had the sweetest eggplant cheese :) and then we all munched on sarah's nachos hahah. it was a really fun group of us!

long morning walk with Sarah...

the view!

walking up!

point vecchio!
the start of our walk!

this morning, Sarah and i went on a hike up to the Piazza Michelangelo, it has the most gorgeous view of florence.... but we took a really long route up, so we walked for about an hour at least. it was so relaxing and beautiful :)... by the way, my photos always upload backwards, so the first ones are on the bottom
